By December 2023, Parks will fully reopen the Simpkins Swim Center year-round to a seven day schedule following program cancellations and pool closure days resulting from a nationwide shortage of lifeguards and swim instructors.

Begin offering Lifeguard Training courses either low cost or free to interested participants. Promote a hiring incentive for lifeguard candidates and support legislation to help develop hiring strategies. Offer as many free lifeguard training courses on top of the incentive pay and other incentivizing programs. Conduct a pop-up hiring event in coordination with Personnel in order to hire, assess and onboard as many lifeguards in one weekend as possible.
