Notice of Public HearingBEFORE THE AVISORY REDISTRICTING COMMISSION OF THE COUNTY OF SANTA CRUZ

After every Decennial Census, districts must be redrawn so that each district is substantially equal in population. This process, called redistricting, is conducted to ensure that each board member represents about the same number of constituents. In Santa Cruz County, the Board of Supervisors is responsible for drawing supervisorial districts, and the Board appointed an Advisory Redistricting Commission (ARC 21) to assist with this work.

Notice is hereby given that the Santa Cruz County Advisory Redistricting Commission, has scheduled a public workshop and a public hearing for September 30, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. at Starlight Elementary School, 255 Hammer Drive, Watsonville, California, and by internet at https://zoom.us/j/92519338521 (Webinar ID: 925 1933 8521) to consider public testimony on Communities of Interest and other matters associated with the redistricting of the Supervisorial District boundaries of the County of Santa Cruz, pursuant to Election Code sections 21507.1. The redistricting process uses the Redistricting data from the 2020 Census, as adjusted by the Statewide Database to allocate inmates in State prison to the census block of their last home address.

At this public workshop and public hearing, the Advisory Redistricting Commission will consider testimony from the public attending in person, and online on Communities of Interest and other matters associated with the redistricting of the Supervisorial District boundaries of the County of Santa Cruz but will take no actions related to this testimony.

NOTE: Testimony may be presented in person or submitted in written form prior to the hearing and made a part of the hearing record.

For more information, please refer to the redistricting webpage at www.santacruzcounty.us\redistricting2021 or call the County Administrative Office at 454-2100.
